Sushi Sakura is a full-service Japanese restaurant tucked along Oliver Street in Williams Lake, offering a solid spot for both locals and travelers craving fresh sushi and classic Japanese seafood fare. The atmosphere balances relaxed comfort with subtle touches of Japanese decor, creating a space that doesn’t demand formal dining but encourages a leisurely meal—whether for a quiet lunch or a casual dinner.

The menu presents a variety of options that go beyond typical sushi rolls, including bento boxes featuring teriyaki beef, prawn yakisoba, and tempura combinations, reflecting a practical choice for those looking for a filling, well-rounded meal. The Oshi Sushi selections offer a creative twist with items like scallop and salmon tartar aburi sushi that stand out for those wanting to explore something a bit different from the standard rolls.

Service here tends to be swift and attentive, even during busy lunch hours, making it a reliable spot for a quick yet satisfying meal pause during the workday or road trips along the highway nearby. The dining area is maintained with care — clean tables and restrooms contribute to a welcoming environment, accommodating families and small groups comfortably. A note for takeout: diners have observed that while dine-in quality remains consistent, some aspects of the food experience don’t fully translate when ordered to go.

Those who appreciate generous sashimi cuts and a variety of textures will find that the ingredients appear fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The mix of traditional rolls like BC Roll and Kappa Maki alongside more inventive options such as the Crispy Fire Roll speaks to a menu that tries to cater to straightforward tastes as well as adventurous palates. Dessert choices, including house-made sticky toffee options, add a sweet finish worth considering during a dine-in visit.

This spot works well for anyone looking for a dependable sushi experience outside the ocean’s immediate influence, as well as for families who might appreciate the child-friendly accommodations. Convenient parking and proximity to the highway mean it’s an accessible stop for regular local dining or a quick meal on the road.

In summary:

  • Best for lunch or dinner with friends, family, or solo visitors interested in a range of Japanese dishes beyond sushi rolls.
  • Locals appreciate the steady service even when busy and the clean, comfortable dining setting.
  • Ideal visit times include lunch for a quick break or early evening when the atmosphere settles into something more relaxed.
  • Expect a place that balances casual, family-friendly vibes with quality food preparation and a menu that bridges traditional and creative Japanese cuisine.

Despite how busy it was for Lunch, the service was remarkably fast and very friendly. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs and the food (although a bit pricey) was very good quality and nicely portioned. Will definitely come back again!

Wow, this place is great. Right off the highway. Lots of good parking. Everything’s prepared beautifully. I’m always a little skeptical of sushi restaurants in the middle of the country as in not close to the ocean one I’ve actually eaten twice in three days here I had the dinner box with beef kind of stirfry noodles and then I had the chicken one today and I had a side of salad very nice.

I have dined in and ordered out here many times. The dine in has always been great over the years. Table’s, area, & bathrooms are always clean. The service is always fast and great! I brought my baby here and they were very helpful and baby/child friendly. The food is great when you dine in! Only down side is the quality of food definitely reduces when you order out which is unfortunate. I’ve had some sticky tempura in some of my take out and rolls that looked like they were rushed and thrown together. But all together, they have the best agedashi tofu around!!

Great little to-go stop while passing through Williams lake. Got some sushi for the road and I am glad I did. Got California roll, kappa roll, and miso soup for my girlfriend and I. The sushi was prepared very quickly (like 5 minutes) and we appreciated that so we could get back driving. All the sushi was delicious and the miso soup was soul warming. Really enjoyed the food and would recommend this to others looking for a healthier to-go option as they pass through.

Best Sushi I have had in years! I've eaten in Asia and throughout Bancouver the USA and Toronto and this sushi is phenomenal! Excellent service, clean and pretty restaurant and decor and overall phenomenal experience. The rolls are massive and the menu is extensive and there are so many options. Also a good selection of Asian beer. A must go for anyone local or stopping through. By far the bear quality food in the cariboo and my new favorite restaurant!
